Ex-Redskins DB Fred Smoot says on podcast that ‘nobody likes Emmitt Smith’
The lawsuit also names former Redskins player Robert Royal, the tight end who hit Green. BIG PAYOUT: Giants WR agrees to $43M extension Redskins coaches and players told The Associated Press in 2012 that Williams also offered cash rewards for big hits and other plays a violation of NFL rules when he was coaching Washington’s defense from 2004-07. But they differed on whether it was a true bounty scheme that targeted specific players. The NFL investigated Williams’ conduct with the Redskins and with other teams where he had coached, but he was sanctioned only for his actions while with the Saints. The Redskins declined to comment Monday on the lawsuit. Green was playing for the Giants when he first injured the knee Oct. 31, 2004 in a game against the Minnesota Vikings. He missed nearly a month then returned to play in three more games, including Dec. 5 against the Redskins. The lawsuit says Royal “intentionally lowered his helmet and dove into” Green’s knees “at full speed.” Green had to be helped off the field, and the lawsuit claims the alleged bounty program would have rewarded the hit as “either a ‘knockout’ or a ‘cart off.'” Even though Royal lined up as a tight end on the play, which happened in the third quarter, the lawsuit says he also played defense occasionally and therefore would have been coached by Williams.
Redskins’ O-Line settled, with room for improvement
Pashos proved his mettle playing with a torn tendon his ankle all of 2011 and could not play last season. If they keep nine offensive linemen, including one of those two players, then theyll have to release one of their young linemen. Hurts ability to play tackle in a pinch helped him last season. Though he was merely adequate at best in his one start against the Eagles at right tackle, it went about as well as the Redskins could have hoped and he did not embarrass himself. Still, they like Compton, LeRibeus is a third-round pick and Gettis showed more at guard.
Time for RG3 and the Washington Redskins to Just Stop Talking
Washington rallied for one more touchdown to bring the final score to 38-16. Week 10 of the 2001 season saw another close contest take place in Denver. Brian Griese completed just 35% of his passes and the Broncos’ rushing attack mustered just 88 yards in this contest. Despite this, Denver led 10-3 going into the fourth quarter. Unfortunately, the Redskins scored on the second play of the final quarter to tie the game at 10-10. Punts ended the next three possessions (two by Denver, one by Washington). Then the Redskins put together a 12-play, 54-yard drive that burned over 5:30 off the clock to take a 17-10 lead. Griese completed just one of six passes on the ensuing possession which defeated any chance of a Broncos’ comeback. The Broncos and Redskins continued the pattern of closely fought contests when Washington traveled to Denver on Week 5 of the 2005 season. In this game, the Broncos would take a lead only to see the Redskins battle back.
Redskins Training Camp Battles: The Offensive Line
There will be no battle during training camp at left tackle. Let us all hope Williams remains healthy during the 2013 campaign because his importance to the line is immeasurable. Will Montgomery has been a quality center for the Redskins. (Although, I am not pleased about that low snap during the playoffs against the Seattle Seahawks . Not that I am blaming him for the injury or anything, I just do not think I will ever get over the trauma of that game).
Is there any reason to try and rush Griffin back for camp? No. That’s not to say that camp is not important, but it is simply not worth risking any sort of setback only six months removed from the injury. After all the superhuman talk, how will fans react if he is held out of camp? How will Griffin react? This is a quarterback who tried to hide the fact he was hurt in the playoffs, who has been declaring he is ‘all in’ for Week 1. Now everyone is telling him that he is superhuman and ahead of schedule. If Dr. Andrews thinks he is not ready to play for camp or if, Heaven forbid, he is not ready for the http://www.parkwolfpackfootball.com/nfl/robertgriffiniiijersey.html start of the season, how do you explain that to Griffin?
Redskins Unveil New Training Facility in Richmond
I dont know. He just be rubbing people the wrong way. As the Washington Post’s Dan Steinberg points out, Smoot once told him, “We hate Dallas.” Smoot last played for the Redskins in 2009. Washington originally drafted him in the second round in 2001. Between his two Redskin stints, Smoot spent two years in Minnesota (2005-2006). The always-interesting Cowboys-Redskins rivalry continues Oct. 13 (Week 6) at 7:30 p.m.
Former player sues Redskins over ‘obvious cheap shot’
